Speech Title: Conjugate Function Method and Numerical Conformal Mappings

Abstract: We discuss the so-called conjugate function method for obtaining numerical representations of conformal mappings and its applications. It is an algorithm based on properties of so-called conformal invariants, in addition to which the computation of the potential functions is required. In our work, the computation has been mostly based on the hp-adaptive version of the finite element method (hp-FEM), which allows highly accurate numerical computation of these quantities even in the case of very complex geometries. If less accuracy is required, other methods including built-in PDE solver Mathematica, are applicable. In this presentation, we present the basics of the algorithm, and discuss its potential applications related to various engineering problems, for example, stress analysis, crack propagation, inverse problems, and mesh generation.
